Oh, how I love being creative! Last week I posted a bag I had recently completed in a group on Facebook and in the caption I mention how "Even I can't believe I made this bag!" Someone commented, "You still can't believe you made the bag, after all this time?" I went on to explained how the feeling never goes away but it is so much more than that. The sense of pride I feel when I've completed a project only keeps me motivated to make the next. But, it is the gratitude that sweeps over me while I am sewing the {Grey} button on each project that overwhelms me. That "high" is one I am always chasing. The reaction is more than I imagined it would be years ago as we explored the idea of having people donate their buttons and us sewing one on every item as our signature mark. I can remember conversations digging into the importance and meaning of the button. But I could not have perceived what that feeling would actually be like. Sewing the button, for me, is that time when I reflect on just how far THE GREY BUTTON has come. It represents all the people who have sown a seed into this BIG dream of mine! But it's also something tangible I can literally touch and see that lets me know that THIS is what I should be doing. For that I am truly thankful for where I am today. By the grace of God, He blesses my mind to be creative, gives me focus, and directs my hands to produce what I believe to be beautiful pieces of art. So near the end, when I'm able to step back and allow my eyes to take in the full view of a finished piece, even I can't believe I made it. Something good enough to where people, who work daily to earn a salary, find my work worthy enough to purchase IT rather than something else? It is an answer to all the prayers and is a blessing that never goes unnoticed. The button keeps me inspired.
