The Gift: To Dream
I remember when I was making the decision to leave my job, to embark on this new journey of entrepreneurship. I recall how uncomfortable I was with all the changes I knew I was going to have to make. Somehow I knew I was going to have to let go of the things that were familiar to me in order to prepare my mind for what my heart was calling me to do. Although very scary, I knew it was necessary if I really wanted to start my own business as a full time designer. It’s times like now that I am truly thankful for having the courage to break free from my corporate mindset and began to truly believe in myself to make the leap.
The Gift: To Decide
Even though this year’s holiday is going to be really low key for me, I’m learning to relax and appreciate it. I recall a time I would dread having to go into work during the holidays because I “had no choice”. Not able to travel to spend time with out of state family, working Christmas eve and the day after Christmas, too exhausted to even prepare a full meal. Of course I am still climbing the so called “success ladder,” but I am learning to reflect. For example, this year was filled with lots of travel, more than I’ve done in previous years combined. Something I wasn’t even able to do when I worked my corporate job, merely because I wouldn’t have had that much vacation time. So while I would love to be out of town surrounded by family and friends, it might be doing my body good to just chill because I can. I might have felt a little sad in the days leading up to Christmas, but I am very thankful. Plus the BONUS: Since I’m staying put, I’m also gaining an additional few days- usually allocated for travel. WINNING!!!
This Christmas, I plan on cooking a pretty low key meal for my little family. No extra guests this year, just us. The more I think about it the happier I feel. No hustle and bustle, sleep deprived cooking and entertaining. This will be a REAL stay-cation. I just may stay in my pajamas and watch movies in between grabbing yet another plate of food and then napping. (Repeat! I’m curious to know what some of your holiday traditions are?
The GIFT: To BELIEVE
Mo~ Crossbody BLACK LEATHER with gold stitching.
I know during these holidays it’s all about gift giving. It’s kind of hard not to get wrapped all into it with the overload of targeted marketing being thrown at you from every direction. Here’s something free you can gift to yourself. Give yourself the present of believing in YOU!! There is so much going on around us that it may be difficult to see what you’re supposed to be doing. I hear a lot of people complaining about all the things that they hate about their situation, but when asked about what they do like or even want….they don’t know, usually struggling to find the answer. I encourage you to spend some time this year thinking of what you do want in your life. Then start to make steps toward that goal!
