Color = Love!

It wasn't that long ago when I lived a boring wardrobe life. I have probably told you a million times how I would only wear dark earth toned colors and how you would never find me in shorts, skirts or dresses. Looking back, I guess my choice of style was directly tied to how I was feeling at the time. that was a pretty rough time in my life and nothing about getting dressed reflected being jolly. So as you can imagine, wearing bright colors were NOT in the equation.

Dark and boring was it for many years. During that time I hated going shopping, would dread having to get dressed for an outing and truthfully despised looking in the mirror. I was depressed....and no matter how much I tried to hide it, my outward appearance reflected it.

FIGHT BACK

One day, during the beginning stages of what I call my "comeback", I walked past the mirror and caught a glimpse of myself. I did not like what I saw, but I stood there for a while and just stared at myself for a long moment. I asked myself how I got to this place. I looked at my choices and all the events that brought me here. I decided that day that I was going to create a new series of calculated events that would build an outcome that I would be proud of. I knew my transformation had to start from the inside so that it could genuinely be reflected on the outside. But how does one just start "feeling" good? It seems like if it were that easy people wouldn't have such a problem with the action. After that walk past the mirror that particular day, I told myself that from then on I would like what I saw in my reflection. I committed to putting real effort into my appearance daily even though at the time I rarely had anywhere to go that actually required me leaving the house. But I still made the full effort of getting entirely dressed, took time to style my hair and I even put on make-up. I promise you, this did so much for my confidence, motivation and outlook on my future.

COLOR

Slowly, I began to notice that I wanted to wear more colors. Certain shades that I thought never looked good on me were starting to become some of my favoritie colors to wear. Color is almost like love. The more you embrace it and it starts to grow....it's hard to imagine your life without it. Can you imagine a life without love? Or a life without color?

Color absolutely inspires me in my daily life and in design. Certain colors set the mood for my entire day. Now that I am doing what I love everyday, carving out "me time" and being committed to a happy life, my wardrobe has most certainly has turned into a reflection of how I'm feeling. The more color, the better!

What colors are you wearing today? Are they reflective of how you are feeling at this time in your life?

Last year I was blessed to be able to travel with THE GREY BUTTON to several cities and share my work. I enjoyed every bit of it! This year I would love to revisit those same cities as well as visit some new ones. If you would like to host a pop-up shop/bag party in MARYLAND or Southern CALIFORNIA, please let me know! This is the year of expansion and I'm going to need your help!
