Red Hott

I am having fun at 40! Sometimes I look in the mirror and ask myself, "Who is this woman?!?!" It's taken a lot of work to get where I am so I most certainly plan to ENJOY...and I've started with my wardrobe!

I cleaned out my closet a couple of weeks ago and as I was color coordinating my wardrobe I realized I hardly had anything in red. It was weird.....in my mind I was certain I could find at least 5 red items. But the fact that I emptied my ENTIRE closet and only two pieces emerged, told me I was wrong! It became obvious to me that I was not naturally drawn to wearing the color red, with the exception of lipstick (in which firey red happens to be my go-to everyday color.)

SMOKIN' HOT

I actually like the color red but I'm not sure I would do too much at once. Once I realized my ruby deficiency, I figured I'd better change that.....you know, just in case I get invited to a red themed party. LOL. In other words, any excuse for a little retail therapy!

And so we arrive at this red skirt which is giving me LIFE! I not only feel youthful, but very playful . Slipping into this skirt automatically makes me feel like I'm on my way to a party were dancing is definitely happening. I wonder if that's how it always feel in the color red......hmmmmmmmm???? Sizzzzzzling! I MUST add more red!

I kept my top as simple as can be because I wanted to keep the focus on not only this skirt but the cute clutch! I had to compliment the look. Let's talk about this printed Chaka clutch. I love it for several reasons. First off, the colors are bright and vibrant and perfect for this summer season. I particularly like the color palette because it will transition nicely into fall by simply playing off of some of the darker colors in the print.

Of course I can never forget finishing off my look with a couple of small leather accessories from my growing collection. Some of my favorite earrings to wear are the tangled leather earrings. They are an extremely simple design that is not only interesting to look at, can also be worn with just about anything: dressed up or down. And finally a new musthave to complete this look, the tiny leather ring in white. LOVE!

sassy

In this skirt, I automatically feel like I can salsa and be good at it. In this skirt, I feel like young and alive like I should have been rocking this at 22. In this skirt, I feel like I have legs for days making this short girl feel way taller! In this skirt, I'm sassy! In this skirt, I'm ready to have fun! In this skirt, you can't tell me NOTHIN'!

Do you have those pieces of clothing that put you in a certain state of mind? I have several that inspire a range of moods, Today it's the red skirt and this Chaka clutch. Tomorrow it could be a business suit and Corners bag to set of a completely different vibe. That's what I like about getting dressed. The first thing I can do for myself in daily preparation is to make sure I look "the part" for the day I will be attending. Days I want to be received as professional, I should probably show up in a more tailored, polished look rather than a breezy, relaxed beach ensemble.

What "costumes" put you in a certain mood?

host a show

Last year I was blessed to be able to travel with THE GREY BUTTON to several cities and share my work. I enjoyed every bit of it! This year I would love to revisit those same cities as well as visit some new ones. If you would like to host a pop-up shop/bag party in MARYLAND or Southern CALIFORNIA, please let me know! This is the year of expansion and I'm going to need your help!
