TGB from Head to Toe!

I hope you all had a beautiful Thanksgiving!!  I can't belive it....the year is pretty much OVER!  In some strange way even though this year flew by it also felt extremely long at the same time.  How is that even possible?

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday for as you can imagine....the food!  I pretty much cooked throughout the entire night leading up to the big day and into the wee hours of that morning.  I had so many moments where I found myself reflecting on my life's journey.  I genuinely have so much to be thankful for.  Of course, I've had my share of pain over the years but out of every circumstance something beautiful came from it.....and for THAT, I am thankful!

One of the BIGGEST areas of gratitude for me comes from the huge network of supporters I have for THE GREY BUTTON!  I'm fortunate enough to be a FULL-TIME entrepreneur and it's only because of the people who belive in me and continuously invest in my craft.  I am always in awe of just how blessed I am to be given such a gift.  Yes, I have goals of growing larger but I also I understand that while I may THINK I'm ready, there are still lessons to be learned to prepare me for the next level.  It took me a while to catch that, but I am also getting a good teaching on the importance of patience.

At the beginning of the year I promised myself to be more intentional with setting my goals and completing them.  I'm not going to lie, I struggled a little this year but overall I am seeing major areas of growth. ...... Okay, so I started a little side project to help me get out of my creative funk a while back.  It took me WAY longer to complete it than I would have liked, but I'm proud to say that I did in fact FINALLY complete the project.  I'm way too embarassed to say just how long it took for me to finish so I'll spare you that details and just say that I'm glad it's done with it.   I'm actually excited for the next project0!

My dream has always been to design womens apparel and handbags/accessories was my plan to get me there! This post is really special to me because outside of the shoes, I made EVERY SINGLE article of clothing and accessories featured in this blog post.

Now, I didn't necessarily make these items (dress & cape) to be worn with each other, but I did want them to be photographed along side of one another for the color story it told.  I admit, pairing them together made me feel really grand though!  Let's start with the dress.  If I'm honest, I could have gone back and worked on the fitting a little bit more but truthfully, I just wanted the sewing to be over! LOL!   I may go back and tighten things up when I get some free time or when/if I decide to wear this dress out to an event.  I realize after our photo shoot how I enjoy a good boat neckline considering how many of my projects features them.  But my absolute favorite part of the dress are the sleeve cuffs! I actually have thousands of buttons and as I was digging around trying to figure out what to use, I found these old vintage-y looking ones in the stash.  I loved the look they gave the dress!  I also kept the length really long and finished it with a rolled hem.  Overall, I am pleased with this printed long sleeved fall dress.

Now lets talk about this cape!  It's one of those items that is quite simple but makes me feel like I just did a whole big thing!  You may remember the grey cape that I made before, here.  Well this one is very similar.  The biggest difference being that this one has the double breasted look.  I absolutely LOVE my new cape....especially the deep navy color and big gold buttons!  I am strongly considering making myself at least one more in another color, I just havent decided on it yet.  Who knows, maybe a small production run may be in the works.....  We'll see what the Button Family says and go from there!

Of course I had to add in some hand crafted accessories to polish off the look. And so I grabbed my navy chucky leather ring, navy dangle earrings, and my "Midnight" Leo bag.  I think all the pieces came together beautifully and I am very pleased with the final look.  I would LOVE to hear what you all think!  Leave me a comment.
