Golden Milk? + Throwback Apple Sweater

I've always known that tumeric has great health benefits, but to be honest never really did any research to know exactly what they were. Well a couple of weeks ago when my friend posted a recipe that used tumeric in something called golden milk in our "So Long Sugar" support group, it got me into looking further into those health benefits (aids in controlling inflammation, digestion, skin conditions, depression, and SO much more). I am also a fan of going natural as much as possible over prescription medicines as well as just maintaining an overall healthy body with good nourishment. And OMG, there are too many benefits. When you get a chance. do some good ole Google research for all the advantages tumeric has on your body when incorporated into your daily diet And we don't even need to mention how delicious it's contribution to some our favorite Indian dishes are, so now you have another excuse to make it an Indian dinner tonight! YUM! . But back to this golden milk....it just looked interesting to me, and because I have cut processd sugar from my diet I love keeping my eyes open for drink concoctions I can do at home to switch things up while being sugar free. My daily drinks usually include WATER, fresh/homemade ginger tea and an occasional decaf coffee. But I sometimes miss the warm feeling I would have when I would just drink just a nice big cup of hot chocolate on a cold day.....so that's why this one caught my eye. It sounds weird once you read the ingredients, but it was quite tasty. I liked it. And I thought it was really pretty. Here's what you will need.

Ingredients:

- Milk (I used cashew milk)

_ tumeric (ground/powder)

- cardamom (I just boiled whole, but you can also use ground)

- cinnamon (ground)

- cracked black pepper

- honey or agave

This was super simple and I added each ingredient "to taste." I combined all the ingredients in a small sauce pan and brought the heat upbringing it to a simmer but NOT a boil. Basically just heating everything until all ingredients are incorporated and to your preferred temperature. Unless alergic, try not to omit the black pepper as it aids at allowing your body to absorb the tumeric.

It's different but like I said earlier, I liked it. If you give it a try, let me know what you think!

Throwback!

I wanted to share more pictures from my shoot with the talented Anthony from Anthony Wallen Photography. It has been such a pleasure to collaborate with him and I can say enough GREAT things about his work. Here are some extra shots I didn't get a chance to share before of my cute apple sweater. I have been asked so many times about it and truthfully I didn't recognize the brand name but I got the sweater at a second hand store. It was brand new with the tags still on it for like $6. Do you know how excited I was???? WINNING! I love the sleeves and the bottom detail and of course the big apple.....plus the apples on the back. Basically I just LOVE this sweater! LOL! And not to distract from it, I decided to keep it simple and just sport my red Marlena Wallet.
